20-08-2009European action in various Paralympic sports on the agenda
European athletes in a number of Paralympic sports will be in action in the coming days as several major events are held all over the continent.

This weekend sees the IBSA 2009 Goalball European Championships kick off in Munich, Germany. Eight men’s teams and eleven women’s teams will compete for the European titles. More information is available on the IBSA web site or the championship web site.

 

Sailors take to the water for the 12th Open International German Championships this weekend, organised by the Wilhelmshavener Sailing Club. Click here for more information (in German).

 

Wheelchair tennis has two events in Europe this weekend. The 2009 Flanders Open, an ITF 3 Series event, is underway in Schoten (Antwerp) with players from Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands in action. The Salzburg Generali Tappe Open 2009, an ITF 2 Series event played on clay courts, brings together 24 players for the men’s tournament, 16 female players and 16 quads.

 

The FEI European and Open Para-Equestrian Dressage Championships 2009 start today in Kristiansand, Norway. Seventy-nine riders from twenty-two countries are set to compete. For more information on the event click here.
