17-04-2009Austrian Paralympic Committee elects new Board and President at General Assembly
The former Austrian Minister of Health, Youth and Family and NPC Vice President Mrs. Maria Rauch-Kallat is the new President of the Austrian Paralympic Committee. She succeeds Dr. Peter Wittmann, who had served as President since the foundation of the Austrian Paralympic Committee (ÖPC) in 1998.

Mrs. Maria Rauch-Kallat

The new President will focus on developing equal treatment for athletes with or without disabilities. She will also emphasize the promotion of new talents and working with youth and children with disability. Another important issue will be to encourage women with disability to become athletes.

The former President, Peter Wittman, now Honorary President, took the opportunity to thank the NPC Board and its members for the excellent work and development the Austrian NPC has gone through during the past ten years. Maria Rauch-Kallat expressed her gratitude towards the Board for placing their trust in her for the role of President.

In addition, Ms. Petra Huber, member of the EPC Executive Board, was reelected as ÖPC Secretary General.

The Austrian Paralympic Committee will host the 8th EPC General Assembly and Conference in Vienna on September 18th-20th 2009.
