The EPC Executive Board met last weekend in Marbella in the framework of the international congress on sport in the digital era which was held in the Spanish city.
Executive Board members devoted a large part of the proceedings to discussions on planning new sports events in the coming years. The Board also discussed EPC’s current situation as regards, among other issues, the office, staffing, finances and accounts.
In addition and with just six months remaining until the general assembly, the Board dealt with the arrangements for what will be a crucial meeting for the Paralympic movement in Europe.
The meeting was fully supported and sponsored by the City Council of Marbella, which currently holds the title of European City of Sport 2009. In this setting, EPC President Enrique Sánchez-Guijo was invited to offer the keynote opening address at the 2nd International Congress, which this year selected sport in the digital era as its focus area.
Apart from attending the congress and holding its meeting, the Board members found the time to enjoy some sport together when they all went for a jog on the beach. According to Sánchez-Guijo, “it is important we never forget we are a sports organisation, and it is our love of sport that brings us together”. Board members agreed doing sport together was a good way to keep the spirit of EPC alive.
