23-03-2009Estonia takes honours at Dutch Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships division B
Five European nations fought for the chance to qualify for the 2010 Winter Paralympic Games in the Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, last week. Following six days of competition, Estonia defeated Sweden by a single goal in the final to take the title.

Estonia, Great Britain, Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands lined up for the opportunity to win division B and try to qualify for next year’s Paralympic Games in Vancouver, Canada.

Sweden had come top of the group in the round-robin stage, but was unable to defeat second-placed Estonia in the final. Poland strolled to a 5-1 victory over GB to take third place, while the Netherlands came fifth overall.

The division A Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships will take place in Ostrava in the Czech Republic in May.
