The Executive Board will gather in Marbella in the south of Spain, where the 2nd ‘Marbella Technology’ Congress is due ot begin on March 19th. This year’s congress focuses on sport in the digital era.
EPC President Enrique Sánchez-Guijo and the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, will give the opening speeches at the international congress, which brings together high-level officials, elite athletes and renowned experts in new technologies.
The conference kicks off on Thursday at 10.30 am and will this year address the issue of sport in the new digital era, focussing on projects already under development in both organisations.
Sánchez-Guijo is also set to talk about how new technologies can contribute to development in Paralympic sport, and the risks and opportunities for athletes with disabilities in the new era.
The ordinary meeting of the Executive Board will take place this coming wekend. A busy agenda will see the committee discuss preparations for this year’s GA, sports events scheduled for 2009 and relations with key partners. Operations at EPC’s new HQ in Vienna, Austria, and planning for the new sports events scheduled to be developed will also be discussed.
EPC’s involvement in the Marbella international congress on sport and new technologies shows its commitment to participating in society and working proactively to mainstream Paralympic sport, raising the profile of athletes with disabilities in all sports forums.
