22-11-2008The European Paralympic Committee (EPC) and the European Olympic Committees (EOC) sign a declaration of intent in Istanbul, Turkey.
Today, EPC President, Mr Enrique Sanchez-Guijo and EOC President, Mr Patrick Hickey signed a declaration of intent in the framework of the EOC General Assembly.

Signature EPC EOC declaration of intent

This document sets the basis, "to implement in Europe the successful model developed worldwide between their respective International Committees (IOC and IPC), concerning the specificity of the European context".

This agreement foresees annual meetings in order to develop further lines of action between the two continental bodies. To this effect, both organizations will designate, among their Executive Board members, a representative to follow-up this alliance and bolster ties.

"This moment is the cornerstone of what will surely be the beginning of a fruitful process for both Olympic and Paralympic athletes in Europe", stated Mr Sanchez-Guijo.

The text provides for revisions to be made in accordance with the progress made, as it develops.
