19-11-2008Olsson victorious on debut, Vergeer seals 11th crown and Wagner takes Quads title at NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters 2008
World No 6 Stefan Olsson (SWE) beat reigning champion Robin Ammerlaan (NED) to win the NEC Masters men's singles title in Amsterdam on Sunday on his debut in the prestigious year-end event. The 21-year-old Swede becomes the youngest winner of the men's singles titles at the NEC Masters.

Olsson, who had beaten all the world's top 10 players apart from world No 1 Shingo Kunieda (JPN) before coming to Amsterdam, avenged Thursday's straight sets defeat by Ammerlaan in their round robin group to clinch a 63 46 63 victory.

World No 1 Esther Vergeer (NED) continued her NEC Singles Masters dominance despite a sixth three set contest against compatriot Korie Homan in Sunday's women's final in Amsterdam.

Anticipation was high for this year's final at Frans Otten Stadium after Vergeer faced her first match point in five and a half years against 22-year-old Homan in the women's gold medal match at the Beijing Paralympics in September.

In the Quads singles event, American David
Wagner needed three sets to overcome Sweden’s Johan Andersson, eventually winning 61 36 62.
