10-06-2008Kunieda and Vergeer retain Roland Garros Wheelchair Tennis titles

The Women's Singles final saw Vergeer and fellow Dutchwoman Korie Homan exchange service breaks early on, but a further double break was enough to give Vergeer the first set. The world No 1 raced to a 5-2 second set lead and then served out on the first of two match points to triumph 6-2 6-2, ending the contest having hit more than twice the number of winners as Homan.

In the Men's Singles final, 24-year-old world No 2 Kunieda defeated Dutchman Robin Ammerlaan to clinch the title 6-0 7-6(5) in 66 minutes.
