06-02-2008Italy and Norway lead European hunt for wheelchair curling world title
Italy and Norway are the top-placed European nations as the round-robin phase concludes today at the World Wheelchair Curling Championships 2008 in Sursee, Switzerland.

Wheelchair curling 

Korea and Canada lead the tournament ranking table after eight games, with the Koreans notching up seven victories and Canada six. Both have already qualified for the play-offs this coming Friday.

 

Italy and Norway are joint third in the table with five wins and three defeats, followed by Sweden in fifth place with four victories to their name. The other European countries involved in the tournament are hosts Switzerland (7th with three wins), Russia and Scotland (joint 8th with 2 wins).

 

The world championships will run until Saturday 9th February, when the bronze medal match will take place at 10 am and the final at 11 am.
