16-01-2008Three European cities in the race to host 2016 Paralympic Games
Prague (Czech Republic), Baku (Azerbaijan) and Madrid (Spain) have returned their Application Files, containing their responses to the IOC Candidature Acceptance Procedure questionnaire, to the International Olympic Committee in a bid to be chosen as the host city for the 2016 Paralympic and Olympic Games.

Chicago (USA), Tokyo (Japan), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Doha (Qatar) also returned files, making a total of seven cities bidding to host the events.

The Application File, which marks the first phase in the procedure leading to the election of the host city of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016, should, through the responses to the 25 questions asked and guarantees requested, provide the IOC with an overview of each Applicant City's project.

The responses will now be studied by a working group and by the IOC Executive Board, which will select the cities that will become Candidate Cities and therefore move on to Phase 2.

Further information on the Candidature Acceptance Procedure can be found on the IOC web site (link below).
