05-12-2007EPC to sign agreement with ACES
EPC and the European Capitals of Sports Association (ACES) will sign a memorandum of understanding on December 14th. ACES is the European body responsible for awarding the title of "European Sport Capital" to a major European city with a population of more than 500 000 people each year.

The agreement includes representation for the Paralympic movement on ACES' award commission, offering the chance for EPC to join site visits to cities bidding for the title. Both ACES and EPC believe one of the fundamental aspects that cities' programmes and sports facilities must take into account when appraising bids is athletes with disabilities.

EPC will use this opportunity to encourage cities wishing to become European Sport Capital to host events for athletes with disabilities, including European championships and youth events. It will also push for all championships for non-disabled athletes to include events for Paralympic athletes and promote accessibility to sports facilities for people with disabilities.
