The assembly, hosted by the Spanish Olympic Committee, was opened by King Juan Carlos and attended by, among others, IOC President Jacques Rogge, IOC Honorary President Juan Antonio Samaranch and ANOC President Mario Vázquez Raña.

Mr Sánchez-Guijo held a number of meetings with leading figures from the Olympic family to discuss closer co-operation with the Paralympic movement in Europe and support for future development of events for athletes with disabilities. These included a private meeting with Mr Samaranch.

EPC will meet with EOC President Mr Patrick Hickey from Ireland in the coming months to work on specific joint projects and co-operation programmes between EPC and its Olympic counterpart.
