European Paralympic Committee,
Executive Committee meeting,
Athens, Greece, 26th-27th September 2003.

Summary of decisions taken and issues discussed

1 EPC General Assembly and Conference: Enrique Sánchez-Guijo updated the committee on attendance at the General Assembly and Conference. A total of twenty-nine NPCs, four IOSDs (ISOD will be represented at the General Assembly by the ISMWSF delegate) and eight sports had registered to attend. Bob Price said this was a good attendance and compares favourably with the 2001 GA in Dublin, where 27 NPCs were present.

2 WADA Code: IPC, through Andy Parkinson, had requested that EPC sign an agreement adopting and promising to uphold the WADA Anti-Doping Code. It was agreed EPC would sign this document.

3 The Executive Committee agreed unanimously that Enrique Sánchez-Guijo should take responsibility for European Union affairs within EPC.

4 EPC logo: the Executive noted that IPC had adopted a new logo and agreed the EPC logo must be redesigned accordingly in the near future.

5 Development: after a discussion of the precise role of the EPC Development Officer, it was agreed he or she should concentrate on co-ordinating EPC development projects rather than being directly involved in organising them. The current Development Officer, Sverre Bergenholdt, shall draw up a paper outlining the role of the Officer.

The committee discussed a number of possible projects for 2004 and agreed to urge EPC members to submit further projects for EPC’s consideration.

6 IPC awards: the Executive Committee agreed to endorse the Norwegian member organisations’s nomination of Mr. Carl E. Wang, the first President of EuroPC, for an IPC award.

7 European Sports Forum: Enrique Sánchez-Guijo updated the Executive Committee on arrangments for the European Sports Forum in Verona on the 21st and 22nd of November, stressing the need for a strong Paralympic movement presence at this event.
